January Gathering

The January meetup was a success! We had a great turnout despite the extreme weather and icy conditions. Those members in attendance were Wire, Dee, Clark, Melissa, Chris, Alex, Emma, Don, Kathleen, Cyd, Bruce, and Nancy, who brought a friend whose name alludes me (I believe it was Mel).

Dee treated us all to delicious food and drinks. We were able to see more of Wire's impressive work, and there was plenty of engaging conversation throughout the evening. I have been selected to exhibit at the Pokegama in Chetek, after Melissa. Wires' work is currently on display at Blackmarx in Cameron.

We then moved on to the "Show and Tell" segment, where each of us presented either completed artwork or works in progress. Wire kicked things off with some scenic experiments using a new technique involving crystallizing urea. Clark showcased some amazing airbrushed panels, while Cyd passed around a photo book featuring her artwork. Nancy displayed her paintings of the girls from the musical "Chicago," along with some miniatures. Don dazzled us with another vibrant landscape. Alex impressed us with her creature collection, which she had painted on the back of her denim jacket. Emma exhibited some beautiful watercolor pieces. Melissa presented her latest creation, Asher the wood duck. I showed my newest bird painting of a Merganser Duck and a recent spun spot painting, "Serenity Clusters". There may have been more presentations, but I can’t recall them all at the moment.
