Heating it up at Wire's

It was a scorcher today as a few brave souls traveled to the Heinsohn homestead for a plein air art session and monthly artist social night. Upon arrival at Wire's, we were given a quick tour of the fascinating features of the property, including the Shed. A magical place filled with artwork and artifacts, found and created by Wire. The famous 500 paintings of faces, fish-shaped ingots of various metals, and rusty pieces of old steel.

Despite the mercury reaching 96 degrees F, we found some shade. We appreciated the relief brought on by the occasional breeze, while we attempted to coax some compelling compositions from the surroundings. Nancy, myself (Ben), and our host Wire got to work producing some art with a supportive audience made up of Cyd and Dee who were later joined first by Alex and Melissa, and then by Patsy. As the sands of time poured closer to feeding time, Clark arrived, followed by Ricky. While we dined on an amazing spread of a Mexican-themed buffet of delights prepared and provided by our gracious host Dee, we were surprised by the unexpected arrival of, Terry from the Thursday art work-group, who made his first appearance at an artist social gathering.

While I was not privy to the conversation at the other table, the table I was at discussed some CPAL business. Melissa told us about her experience at the Art shows in Duluth and Whitefish Bay. She also shared some sneak peeks of her current angler fish project. Patsy shared some good news about her property in Cornucopia. We discussed some details about Artober, while I attempted to recruit more artists to join me for this year's prompt challenge. Alex shared some pictures of projects from art school and made some inquiries about the Thursday art group at the community center in Cameron. The Art Crawl scheduled for Thursday afternoon was ironed out a bit more and should be a well-attended event.
